’Forest personnel issues’ a panel for study

Udupi, Jan 16, 2020 :  Prakash Netalkar, chief conservator of forest (Mangaluru Division), said that the government has set up a committee to study the service promotion and wage revision issues faced by the Forest department staff.



“The committee will conduct a study and come up with solutions within a month,” he added. He was speaking after inaugurating the 20th annual celebrations of the Karnataka State Sub-zonal Forest Officers’ Association.

The officer said that the issues of promotion and wage revision were brought to the notice of the government. “There are other problems that are discussed with the government. The committee that has been set up for the purpose has met to discuss the probabilities and attempts are made towards finding solutions,” he added.

The major problems will be sorted out said the officer and he urged his department staff to bring the problems that they face to his notice. He also said that he would try to raise the issue with the government and find solutions.

“Forest department plays a crucial role in conserving the forest treasure. They should try to protect the forest. The personnel should try to ensure to provide a better environment for the people who face the wild animal menace. In Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, the leopard menace is increasing and the department personnel should try to solve the problem,” he explained.

Lohit, assistant forest conservator (Kundapur division), said that the forest cover, when counted globally, is declining rapidly. The forest land that is available with the Revenue and the Forest departments is at least to the satisfying figures.

He stressed on the need for fight to conserve the forest land. “It is heartening to observe that forest cover in Udupi district and whole of Karnataka is increasing as per the recent survey,” Lohit added. The struggle between man and wild animals is increasing, he said.
