"Chintan- Mantan", ’Think Tank’ session on Konkani language plan held, Apr 10

Mangaluru, April 12, 2017: Mandd Sobhann, in association with ‘Jagotik Konknni Songhotton’ (JKS) had convened a ‘Chintan- Mantan’ session, brain storming session regarding the Konkani language plan, labelled, ’ATTO’V’  – on Apr. 10, 2017, Monday, at Kalaangann, Mangalore. The presence of Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu, the Vice President of JKS, was a fitting occassion.

Gurkar, Eric Ozario, Secretary General of JKS, presented the Konkani Language Plan and informed the gathering about the process of its preparation, on the basis of 2 years dedicated work, after conducting a Global  Survey and also convening 2 Global Conclaves.

The brian storming session was followed by an intellectual discussion on the Konkani Language Plan. Dr. Austin opined that if the Konkani Language Plan is implemented by every Konkani individual, it could ensure a bright future for Konkani. He  also said that regional meetings should be organised for the propagation of the Konkani Language Plan. The power of the internet and social networking platforms could also help in registering the subject in the minds  of Konkanis spread around the world, he said. 

On the occasion, Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu was felicitated by Mandd Sobhann and JKS. Roy Castelino – Chairman, Konkani Museum and Recent Former President – Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy did the honours. Gurkar Eric Ozario and Louis J. Pinto – President, Mandd Sobhann,  Treasurer, JKS, respectively were present on the dais.

At least 45 Konkani enthusiasts participated in the Chintan-Mantan, which was followed by dinner. Roman Lobo, Executive Committee Member of Mandd Sobhann conducted the procedings.
