’Alva’s Nudisiri’ from Nov 16

Mangaluru, Nov 13, 2018: Alva’s Education Foundation is set to organise Alva’s Nudisiri, the annual literary and cultural festival, from November 16 to 18 at Moodbidri.

Speaking to media November 12,  Monday, Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva said that the theme of this year’s meet is ‘Karnataka Darshana—Bahuroopi Ayamagalu’.

Writer and researcher Dr Mallika S Ghanti will preside over the Nudisiri this time. Well-known researcher Dr Sha Shettar will inaugurate the meet.

Dr Alva said that four major sessions on various subjects will be held during Nudisiri. Lakshmisha Tholpady, Vidwan Umakanth Bhat, Dr Vijaya Kumar S Katagihallimata, Dr H N Muralidhar, Ramzan Dargah, B Ganapathi, Dr P K Rajashekar and Dr Ambalike Hiriyanna will take part in these sessions.

The three-day meet will have special lectures by Prof M Krishne Gowda, Cha Ha Raghunath, Y S V Datta, Prof G B Shivaraj, Dr Narahalli Balasubrahmanya,
Dr M Usha, Rohith Chakratheertha and Vasanth Kaje.

In ‘Kavi Samaya-Kavi Namana,’ eight poets will recite their poems. After the recitation, the poems will be sung and theme of the poems will also be drawn on the canvas. The participating poets are Prof Satyamangala Mahadeva, Dr Venkatagiri Dalavai, Anand Zunjaravada, Nandini Vishwanath, Dr K C Srinivasmurthy, Meena Mysuru, Nataraj, and Vikram Hatwara. Dr Mahesh Joshi will speak on Santha Shishunala Sharifa on the occasion of 200th birth anniversary. In ‘Nanna Kathe Nimma Jothe’, actor Ramesh Aravind and transgender A Revathi will share their experiences.

Nudisiri Awards

Dr Alva said that the 12 achievers will be felicitated with Alva’s Nudisiri Award in the valedictory programme. The award carries a cash of   Rs 25,000 and a citation.

The award winners are Dr G D Joshi, Dr A V Narasimhamurthy, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Arundati Nag, L Bandenavaj Khalif Aldala, Dr K Ramananda Banari, Dr Narahalli Balasubrahmanya, Prof A V Navada, Rev Fr Prashanth Madta, H N Raghavendra, Aruva Koragappa Shetty and Mysuru Nataraj.

Kendra Sahitya Akademi Chairman Dr Chandrashekar Kambar will also be felicitated during Alva’s Nudisiri.

Series of events

Krishi Siri, which will be held as a part of Nudisiri, will be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister N H Shivashankar Reddy.

A flower show, acquariums, vegetables, 40 varieties of bamboo, cottage industries related to agriculture and farm equipment will be part of the Krishisiri. Varieties of vegetables have been cultivated on three-acre land.

In addition, Alva’s Chitrasiri, in which 25 artists are taking part in a camp and will exhibit their artworks. As many as 25 cartoonists will take part in Alva’s Vyangyachitra Siri.

Several science models by various colleges will be part of Alva’s Vijnana Siri. One hundred photographs will be exhibited at Alva’s Chayachitra Siri.

The winners will get prizes of Rs 7,500, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.

Dr Alva said that Alva’s Vidya Siri, a students’ literary and cultural meet, will be held on November 15.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kasargod, student Sannidhi T Rai Perla will preside over the programme.

Actor Vinaya Prasad will inaugurate the event. Murthy Deraje, Sanidhya Special School and Sadguna Aithala will be honoured while children’s writer A K Rameshwara Gadaga will be felicitated with Alva’s Vidya Siri Honorary Award, he added.

Chalanachitra Siri

Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy President Nagathihalli Chandrashekar will inaugurate Alva’s Chalanachitra Siri.

The details of film screenings are - November 16: Ammacchiyemba Nenapu (3 pm, Kunda Kannada) and Talang Neer (5 pm, Kodava); November 17: Kaada Hadiya Hoogalu (10 am, Kannada), Shuddhi (3 pm, Kannada) and Paddayi (Tulu, 5.30 pm) and November 18: Sophiya A Dream Girl (10 am, Konkani) and Hebbet Ramakka (3 pm, Kannada).
