Mangaluru : World Alzheimer’s Day observed

Mangaluru, Sep 14 2018: World Alzheimer’s Day was observed at Town Hall here on September 22, Saturday on behalf of People’s Association for Geriatric Empowerment (PAGE). Olinda Pereira, President of PAGE, J R Lobo, former MLA, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and other dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil called upon the society to take care of senior citizens. He also stressed the need to find ways to mitigate the problems arising due to Alzheimer’s.

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA J R Lobo said youngsters must take care of the elder members of their family with great love.

Dr M Ramakrishna, District Health officer said the elderly citizens suffering from Alzheimer’s need the support of their near and dear ones. He also released PAGE primary health care tool kit book.

Senior civil judge Mallanna Gowda, Yenepoya University Registrar Dr Shree Kumar Menon, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, PAGE Vice President Dr Prabha Adhikari, Secretary Jerardine D’Souza and others were present.
