CASK AGM: Nayana Fernandes elected President on sept 16

Mangaluru, Sept 17, 2018: CASK - Catholic Association of South Kanara, which more than a century old in Mangaluru, met for the 105th Annual General body Meeting (AGM) on September 16, 2018 Sunday at Avila Hall of St.Agnes College.

There a poor attendance as usual, even though there are more than a thousand members, the meeting progressed as per the agenda. It must be noted that the Bishop of Mangalore is the Patron of this organisation and is entitled to nominate member/s to the governing council.

The CASK President at that point in time Richard Rodrigues, welcomed all preent, He made a brief presentation on the functioning and achievements that CASK had made in recent times. After the remembrance of departed members the minutes of the last AGM on Sept 17, 2017 was presented. The secretary Mario Saldanha, tabled the Annual Report which was approved and passed. The treasurer Walter D’Sa presented the accounts which were passed,  auditors for the next year were appointed.  

As per the agenda the election was conducted for the term 2018-20  (last held in 2016) by Mr. Norbert Shenoy, a member. Ms.Nayana Fernandes, who was formerly the VP, was elected President unopposed. Ms. Patricia Lobo who has been the celebrated editor of ’Mangalore’ the voice of CASK was elected the Lady VP with Capt.Vincent C.Pais as the other VP. Mario Saldanha was elected again as Secretary, Dr.Anand Periera Jt Secretary and Walter D’Sa continues as Treasurer.  Also, a ten member governing  council was elected, many continue from  last term, and elected unopposed.  All present see this team as a good omen for CASK in the next two years.

After completing all the business set out in the Agenda; Capt Vincent Pais, Vice-President gave the vote of thanks in which all concerned were specially extended appreciation.
