312 aspirants shortlisted at mega job fair in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, July 31, 2018: More than 60 companies participated in a mega job fair organised by the Dr P Dayananda Pai P Sathish Pai Government First Grade College, Car Street, here on July 30, Monday.

A total of 720 job aspirants, who have completed BA, BCom, BBM, BSc, BCA, MCom, MSW and MCA courses in government colleges participated in the job fair. More than 300 candidates were shortlisted by the companies for recruitment.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Mangaluru City South D Vedavyas Kamath lauded the efforts of a government college in organising the job fair.

“One should not be disappointed for failing to get a job. There are ample opportunities in this competitive world. The job aspirants should make all efforts,” he felt.

Focus skill sets :  Principal Prof Rajashekar Hebbar said, “Along with curriculum, the students in the college are taught life skills. The NSS volunteers of the college have come forward to cultivate paddy and vegetables on 10-acres of fallow land. The vegetables will be cultivated on college premises. The rice, cultivated by the students, will be used for mid-day meals of the college.”

He said the college will start MSc in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science during the next academic year.

Labour Net Services India Regional Manager Sooryanarayana T K said, “All the participants’ biodata has been collected. If there are any openings in the future, they will be intimated.”

Mangalore University Employment Exchange and Guidance Centre Head Prof K S Jayappa said, “The students should show a keen interest in cracking competitive examinations. The centre has sufficient study materials
for it.”

Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Deputy Director Pradeep D’Souza also spoke.

The job fair was organised in association with Century Real Estate Holdings Pvt Ltd, Labour Net Services India Pvt Ltd, Prabhat Skill Development Centre, Mangalore University Employment Exchange and Guidance Centre, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Old Students’ Association and Parent-Teachers’ Association.
