The ZP members said that government schools do not have sports kits and the Zilla Panchayat should earmark funds for the purchase of sports kits. Officials from the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports said that Rs 2 lakh has been earmarked for the purchase of sports kits for 20 schools. The members, however, wanted the kits to be purchased for at least one school in each constituency. The ZP CEO P I Sreevidya said that Rs 10,000 would be given for one school in each constituency.

Member Koragappa Naik said, the guidelines that 2% of the income of the local governing bodies and gram panchayats should be earmarked for the promotion of sports is not followed as rule.
