Mangaluru, Oct 25, 2017: At the first meeting of the DK District Planning Committee held at the ZP auditorium here on October 25, Wednesday, members strongly felt that drinking water schemes and road development must get due priority under Rural Development Project.
The meeting presided over by Zilla Panchayat President Meenakshi Shantigodu was participated by office bearers of the Zilla, Taluk Panchayat and Taluk Planning and Development Committee as well as members from local administrative bodies who are elected to the committee.
Addressing the meeting, ZP Chief Executive Officer Dr M R Ravi said the members have the opportunity to review the developmental plans and the meeting can also accept suggestions from them. However, there is no scope to change the action plan, he added.
Some members questioned the need to hold such a meeting when no change could be incorporated in the action plan.
Many even resented the delay in holding the meeting. Reacting to this, M R Ravi admitted that t here was a delay as the committee had to gather overall information regarding the district. The process of forming the committee was initiated soon after the government announcement regarding the same in the budget, he said.
