Youth abducted, brutally assaulted demanding ransom

Mangaluru, Dec 07, 2018: In a shocking incident, a gang of five miscreants abducted a youth near Sasihitlu, attacked him brutally and then robbed him of his cash on December 5.

 

The victim has been identified as Shimak Hassan (22), a BBM student  of a college in the city. It is said on December 5 evening, he was having coffee with his friends at Naushad and Saurav at Attavar when  Shimak’s classmate Ankith arrived there and took him along  in his bike. But when Shimak did not return even after half an hour his friends tried to call him but in vain. When they later called  using another  number, the miscreants who received the call revealed that they were taking Shimak to Moodbidri. Later they called in the night stating they would kill Shimak if their demand for Rs 50,000 went unheeded.

It is said the assailants pushed off Shimak from the car near KPT after their demand was met. Shimak who has sustained serious injuries on his back and other parts of the body has been hospitalised.

Pandeshwar Police have launched a search for the assailants.

 The Swift car as well as the iron rods used by the abductors have been recovered.
