Yezdi/Jawa owners hold bike rally to celebrate Jawa Day

Mangalore, July 10: The Mangalore-based Jawa and Yezdi Motorcycle Club celebrated its 9th international Jawa Day with a motorcycle rally today. Owners of Jawa motorcycles all over the world celebrate the Jawa Day on the second Sunday of every July.

The Jawa and Yezdi Motorcycle Club in Mangalore has members of all age groups and walks of life.

Unfortunately, older models such as Jawa and Yezdi have lost their popularity after the launch of newer models by motorcycle companies. However, youngsters still love the Yezdi model.

More than 30 riders with the Yezdi and Jawa motorcycles participated in the rally, most of them being from places such as Kundapur, Udupi, Chikkamagalur, and others. Funds were also raised during the event for an animal care trust.

Jawa, a motorcycle company, is based in the Czech Republic and was founded in the early twenties by Frantisek Janecek. The company expanded into India in collaboration with an Indian company in the early sixties.
