Mangaluru, Dec 6, 2015: Refusing to comment on the demand from Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary over Yettinahole diversion project, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel reiterated on Dec 5, Saturday that a delegation of elected representatives and others would meet the Union Environment Minister Prakash Javedkar after December 14.
The MP said that it was to urge the Minister not to approve the project. MP Kateel said that Minister Javedkar was now on a foreign tour. The delegation would meet him and also Uma Bharati, Minister for Water Resources and River Development.
Earlier at a separate press conference, Poojary had asked MPs from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi-Chikkamagalur to approach the National Green Tribunal’s southern bench at Chennai and file affidavits against the project. In his response MP Kateel refused comments.
MP Kateel said that Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa said that local leaders should be consulted first on the project.
