Mangaluru, Dec 26, 2018: Naresh Shenoy, prime accused in the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, who is out on bail, is hosting a “harake” yakshagana in Mangaluru this weekend as a vow to get Prime Minister Narendra Modi re-elected. Sehnoy is also the founder of Namo Brigade and an active member of the newly formed “TeaModi”.
He is hosting the show on December 29 in Mannagudda. The Kateel Durgaparameshwari Dashavatara Yakshagana Mandali will stage the popular prasanga ‘Devi Mahatme’.
“Harake” yakshaganas are sponsored by people in coastal districts as an offering to God, seeking fulfilment of a desire.
However, using yakshagana for “political purpose” has come under criticism. While State president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India Muneer Katipalla, in his Facebook post, criticised it, journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu said that time has come for the use of yakshagana to fight against communalism.
