Workers’ association protests against poor conditions in ESI Hospital

Mangalore, May 2, 2012: The Akhila Bharata Karmika Sangha organized a protest against the management of ESI Hospital on May 2 Wednesday in front of the DC’s office. 


G. M. Gadkar, the state  vice president of the sangha, and Sudatta Jain Shirtadi, its general secretary, delivered the protest address.

Alleging that the hospital was robbing poor people of their basic rights, the protestors said that they will continue protesting till the deputy commissioner fulfills their demands. 


Giving a report of all the protests organized by the sangha previously, they said that a protest was first held in 2009 and again during the same year for 54 hours, during which the protestors went on fast too. They said that although a director arrived from Bangalore and assured the protestors that things would be set right, he forgot his promises after getting back to Bangalore. They also said that the sangha organized a 60-hour protest against in 2012, but still their demands are being ignored. 


Stating that the head of the ESI Hospital did not introduce any facility although the director from Bangalore promised these facilities, the protestors alleged that the medical staff as well as the non medical staff at ESI Hospital is against them. 


They also warned that they will continue protesting till their demands are met.
