Mangalore, Sep 2, 2012: The dead body of a woman was found in a half-constructed building near Felix Pai Bazaar on GHS Road on September 2, Sunday. 


The deceased Amuni (45) of Kateel is believed to have been murdered. She was a poor lady who used to collect scrap in this area. Besides, she was dumb. For the past 20 years, she has been living in this half-constructed building and doing odd jobs for the neighbors. Reportedly, she had been married three times and was in a relationship with a man called Shravan.

She had two children from her first husband, who sold the kids for money. She lived with him in Kateel till he died. 


Some sources say that, on the night of her murder, Shravan was drunk and intoxicated with ganja. He quarreled with Amuni and hit her on the head in a fit of rage. He is now absconding and the police are looking for him. 


The half-constructed building is believed to be a base for illegal activities such as drug smuggling, and in October 2011, another person was found murdered on its second floor. 


Amuni is believed to have been murdered on the night of September 1, Saturday, and her body was found on the morning of Sunday. An examination of the body has revealed injury marks on her head, indicating that someone hit her on the head with a heavy object. 


DCP Dharmaiah and Circle Inspector Vinay Gaonkar arrived with a team of sniffer dogs. The body is now in Wenlock Hospital for post mortem.
