Woman admitted to hospital after alleged torture by Ullal Police

Mangaluru: June 24, 2015: A woman has been hospitalized after alleged torture by Ullal Police on Tuesday June 24.

The woman has been identified as Jashwitha (28) who is suffering from Asthma problem.


It is learnt that Jashwitha’s Brother Ashwin who works as a fisherman had attacked a bus conductor, to which the Ullal police had visited his house. The police asked Jashwitha to visit police station as Ashwin had escaped.


Jashwitha visited the Ullal police station, was abused and tortured by the Sub Inspector Bharathi and was made to wait for a whole day. As Jashwitha was suffering from Asthama, the SI stopped her family from giving any medicine.


Jashwitha’s condition got steadily worse. She was then admitted to Hospital.The Human rights activists and woman and Child Welfare committee raised the issue and registered a case against the accused SI.
