With just a day to go for LS polls, staff get ready for election duty

Mangalore, April 16, 2014: With the Parliamentary elections just a day away, the mustering procedure and the process of allotment of polling stations for election officials is on at the Canara School at Mannagudda in the city on April 16, Wednesday.

Four mustering - demustering places  in the city are  201-Moodbidri (KPT Kadri, Mangalore), 202-Mangalore City North (Gokarnanatha PU College), 203 Mangalore City South (Canara High School) and 204- Mangalore, Ullal (Ramakrishna Education Institutions). All centres have been provided security by a team led by ACP Subrahmanya.

Booth level officers, presiding officers and assistant presiding officers reported to their respective sector officer in the morning  and were asked to carry the EVMs while going to their booths.

Each sector officer will be in-charge of 30 to 40 booths. Each officer will be given a stand-by EVM to use in case the EVM  goes out of order. Moreover there will be standby officials in the event of any staff on duty falling sick.

Special police force will be on duty at highly sensitive polling stations, while polling stations in Naxal affected areas will be protected by  75 to 100 Karnataka State Armed Police Force (KSAPF)  personnel.

The EVMs will be kept at  Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Pre-University College, Bondel after the elections till the day of counting  on May 16.
