Udupi, Dec 18, 2016: A strong determination and will power is a must to  achieve excellence in the field of  sports. It is this excellence which has the power to  shower  name, fame and wealth  on the sportspersons, said former intenational badminton player and chief  coach Vimal Kumar.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of the 41st national junior shuttle badminton tournament  here on December 17, Saturday.

Lauding the Udupi District Badminton Association  for providing various facilities  for badminton players, Vimal Kumar said he was happy to note that even parents have been encouraging children playing badminton.

Badminton Association of India Secretay Jaiswal, Chief Referee Deshi Pandekar, District Co-operative Union President Kishan Hegde Kolkebail,  Udupi Badminton Association President Raghupathi Bhat and others were present.

 

The results (finals): Under-19: Boys: Singles: Lakshya Sen bt M. Mithun 21-15, 21-16. Doubles: Krishna Prasad & Dhruv Kapila bt Bodhit Joshi & M. Mithun 21-18, 23-21.

Girls: Singles: Ira Sharma bt Aakarshi Kashyap 17-21, 21-7, 21-10. Doubles: Ashwini Bhat & U.K. Mithula bt Mahima Aggarwal & Shikha Gautam 21-14 (retired).

Mixed doubles: Dhruv Kapila & U.K. Mithula bt Krishna Prasad & Mahima Aggarwal 18-21, 21-15, 21-19.

U-17: Boys: Singles: Kiran George bt Kartikey Gulshan 21-9. 23-21.

Doubles: Manjit Singh Khwairakpam & Dingku Sing Konthoujam bt Aman Raikwar & Yash Raikwar 21-16, 15-21, 21-7.
