Mangalore, July 16: Students and senior citizens can now vie for awards for best presentation of ideas in competitions promoted by www.welcometoreason.com  website. This was announced at the re-launch of the redesigned website by Mr. M. R. Vasudeva, Mangalore Airport Director, at its fourth anniversary meet at the Mangalore Press Club on July 16, 2011. These awards, with cash and citation, details of which are being worked out for release in the media and on the website later, will be presented annually to mark its anniversary on July 17, 2011.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vasudeva said that “the past 20 years have seen unleashing   of the forces of reform, liberalization, globalization, competition and growth in the economic sector.  Simultaneously different schools of thoughts are vying with each other to occupy the minds, hearts, feelings and emotions and we are at cross roads.  Violence and militancy are gaining ground.  At this juncture sensible, rational, logical thoughts have to be given prime place.  People with pen should be encouraged and should be given a platform.”

 

Against this background, Mr. Vasudeva said that it was apt to have welcometoreason.com website providing a ready platform to project logical and reasoned thoughts on subjects of current interest. He exhorted students and senior citizens to exchange ideas through the website and also reach for the awards. He welcomed the new feature of the redesigned website providing user-friendly format for instant response.
 
Mr. Mohan Monteiro, welcomed the media and traced the progress of the website since its launch four years ago. Mr. John B. Monteiro, promoter and editor of the website, proposed the vote of thanks to media persons and Mr. Titus Noronha, media consultant, for organizing the media meet.
