Mangaluru, Sep 01, 2016 :Water supply to most parts of the city has been disrupted after the 18 MGD pipeline supplying water from Tumbay to Mangaluru, was found ruptured at Adyar during the early hours of August 31, Wednesday.
Repair works are currently in full swing and water supply to the city is likely to resume on Thursday evening provided the repair works are complete. It is believed that the pressure in the water pipeline resulted in the crack at a place where two pipelines join. Huge quantity of water has gone waste due to the rupture in the pipeline.
As huge soil is above the pipeline which is broken, efforts are underway to remove the soil using the JCB.
Mayor Harinath, MCC Standing Committee on Planning and Development Lancelot Pinto, Chief Whip Shashidhar Hegde, Corporator Deepak Poojary and many others visited the spot. Executive Engineer Linge Gowda, Assistant Executive Engineer Naresh Shenoy and other MCC engineers are at the spot to supervise the repair works.
