Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2014 : MCC - Mangaluru City Corporationhas appointed a new agency to prepare water bills to consumers on its behalf. Reports state MCC would be paying Rs. 9 per bill to M.N. Compu Solutions. Earlier it was paying Rs. 7.25 per bill to BCITS Computer Solutions whose contract has finished.
The agenda placed in the council meeting of the corporation on Nov 27, Thursday, Mayor Mahabala Marla approved the new agency on November 26. It said there were near 79,500 water connections in the city, at Rs. 9 per bill, the MCC would pay over Rs. 85 lakh to the new agency per year.
The Mayor said the council on Nov 27, Thursday approved restoring ’water adalats’ discontinued in September 2013.
Mayor Marla said the civic body would give Rs. 10 lakh to the three-day Vishwa Tuluvere Parba (global Tulu festival) programmes scheduled in the city from December 12. In addition, it would contribute Rs. 2 lakh to the three-day State-level Yuvajana Mela scheduled at Vittla from December 6.
Surathkal Complex : He said MCC council on Nov 27, Thursday approved a proposal to construct a multi-storeyed market complex building at Surathkal under public-private-partnership model.
The Mayor said the Railways had written to the MCC to construct a road over bridge at Pandeshwar (on Mangaladevi-Pandeshwar Road) level crossing on a cost-sharing basis. The Railway Board had approved its construction, but the corporation would permit the construction only if the Railways was ready to bear the entire cost.
This was because the corporation had learnt that there was a proposal to close down the goods shed and the railway line would not be in use after two years. This is indeed a good news to people in Pandeshwar, Bunder, Bolar, Hoigebazar. Mangaladevi and so on as frequent rail gate closure ate two points causes traffic chaos..
