Volunteers give a fresh look to many areas, Swacch mission

Mangaluru, Jan 13, 2017:  The swacch cleanliness drive in the city and surrounding areas under the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyaan of Ramakrishna Mission, volunteers of different organisations cleaned 10 areas. The team members of Swacch Kavoor cleaned Nadanapura area.

The members of Hindu Yuva Sena gave a fresh coat of paint to a dilapidated bus shelter. Artists painted direction boards and drew paintings carrying the message of cleanliness. At Kottara Chowki, the members of Kiran Gym Friends inspired and supported by Ramakrishna Mission. They created awareness on cleanliness at Kottara Chowki area. The big pillars supporting the bypass in the area were also given a totally new look.

The volunteers under the guidance of Yashwant Acharya cleaned the pillars by washing and then painting different art works depicting messages of Swacch Mangaluru.

While students of Sri Saraswat Education Society cleaned Ganapathi High school campus and premises, Team Aloysius took up the cleanliness drive in Court Road.

Konchadry Friends Circle members cleaned the Kuntikana area. Posters stuck on pillars of Kuntikana Bypass were removed and cleaned. The surrounding area was thoroughly cleaned and provision was made for parking vehicles by levelling the ground.

The drivers of Sri Krishna Bhavan Autorickshaw Association cleaned Hampankatta Main Road and the area surrounding the Clock Tower. The area in front of Tokyo Market Road and the premises of Taluka Panchayat were also cleaned by the members.

The students of Backward and Minority Girls Hostel cleaned Chilimbi area. At Deralakatte, students of Justice K S Hegde Medical Academy took up cleanliness work.

The localites of Shivabagh Kadri cleaned the area on Shivabagh Main Road and the drains adjoining the road were cleared.

The residents cleaned the Padil underpass and surrounding areas. Heaps of garbage and stones lying under the railway bridge were also removed. The roads leading to the station were also cleared. It is good to know more efforts are planned in this regard.

Swacch Mangaluru - Throw or dump waste in hidden places . The people are still not serious about why they are coming up in maintaining the cleanliness of the city

Many people still have the habit of disposing waste here and there due to which the area seem to be dirty.
