Mangalore, March 7: The ‘Vishwa Kannada Teeru’, showcasing the cultural heritage of the district at world Kannada meet to be held at Belagaum from March 11 to 13, was flagged off from Kadri Park on Monday, March 7 at 9.30am.

MP Nalin Kumar, DC Subhod Yadav, AC Prabhulinga Kavalikatte, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of Dakshina Kannada Sahithya Parishath, Annayya Kulal and Harikrishna Punaroor were present on the occasion.


The chariot will traverse all the taluks of the district before embarking on its journey to Belgaum via Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady. It will also cover one of the heritage centres Moodbidre before reaching Belguam on March 10 at 3.00pm.


The chariot is decked with colourful Sammelan logo in the front and the local history of Dakshina Kannada district and regional flavour has been included in the remaining part.


Deputy Commissioner Subhod Yadav has urged the public to accord a warm welcome to the chariot and create a festive atmosphere.
