Mangaluru, Apr 03, 2018: Mangaluru International Airport Director V V Rao has put to rest all speculations that were rife after the viral video regarding collecting double the fee by airport parking attendants.
Speaking to reporters here, Rao said the video was nearly two months old and that the issue had already been settled. The Airport authorities have already initiated stern action against the staff concerned as well as the contractor. A heavy penalty of Rs 2.58 lakh has been imposed on the contractor on the basis of the complaints of many, he added.
He stated that the parking at the airport is supervised by a Mumbai based contractor. He even said that a new parking policy would be initiated soon. He also stated that parking at the MIA would be free for all on Tuesday.
Rao further informed that the MIA received the cleanest airport award as part of a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan survey at a function held at New Delhi during the 23rd anniversary of Airports Authority of India.
