Udupi, Aug 22, 2016: Udupi District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj has said that anyone who violates law will face strict action irrespective of his party, caste or religion.
He was speaking at a condolence meet organised here on August 21, Sunday by the Surakshitha Yuva Seva Samithi of Kenjur in memory of Praveen Poojary who was killed by cow vigilantes recently. On this occasion, Pramod Madhwaraj said he would be extending a personal financial aid of Rs 50,000 to the family of Praveen and assured to strive to get more compensation from the Government. He also assured to talk with IOC officials with regard to the demand put forth by public to shut the petrol bunk owned by one of the accused in the case.
Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Chief Whip of Legislative Council handed over a personal contribution of Rs 25,000 to the family of Praveen Poojary and hoped such incidents will not be repeated.
Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, Praveen Poojary’s father Vasu Poojary, Surakshitha Seva Samithi President Naveenchandra Shetty and others were present.
The Samithi has also announced a contribution of Rs 25,000 to the family of Praveen.
