Mangalore Aug 26, 2011 : The prize distribution ceremony of the Vijaya Karnataka – Ideal Muddukrishna Contest was held in the office of Vijaya Karnataka on Thursday, the first event of its kind in the history of Kannada journalism, organized by the Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka.
Hundreds of children, who had participated in this contest, arrived with their parents to witness the event.
Shri Dharmapalana Swamiji, the head of Shri Adichunchanagiri Mutt, addressed the gathering and lauded Vijaya Karnataka for popularizing and preserving the rich tradition, culture, and lifestyle of the country.
DK Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said in his presidential address that Vijaya Karnataka is propagating the cultural values while other newspapers and news portals are glorifying unnecessary issues.
The judges of the event were Yajna of Mangalore, Ganesh Somayaji, and Vidyashree Radhakrishna.
K. P. Aryan Avharya of Kodikal won the first prize, Chinmayi H. Darbe won the second prize, and Nihal Marady won the third prize. The consolation prizes were given away to B. K. Aniruddh Rao of Jeppu, Sharadhi of Koteshwar, Vamshika Kini of Karkala, Anthra of Koragrapady; Diya of Udupi, and Abhinav S. Bhat of Kadri in Mangalore.
