Vijaya Bank distributes loans among fisherwomen

Mangalore, Sep 3, 2011: Vijaya Bank distributed joint liable loans to fisherwomen at Hotel Woodlands on September 3 Saturday.

Lauding the fisherwomen’s promptness in repaying loans, KFDC Chairman Ramachandra Baikampady said that the state government is giving a subsidy of Rs. 9 crore with 3 percent interest to fisherwomen. The bank has already given away loans worth Rs. 8.2 crore to fisherwomen this year, he added.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vijaya Bank Chairman H. S. Upendra Kamath and Sudhakar Shetty were felicitated on the occasion.

Interacting with reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Goldfinch later, Upendra Kamath said that the bank has a retail portfolio of Rs. 10,100 crore and a total infrastructure worth Rs. 9470 crore. He further said that the bank aims to reach a profit target of Rs. 1,00,053 crore by March 2012.

Stating that the bank will celebrate Founder’s Day on Oct 23, he said that the bank plans to launch 100 new branches and 250 ATMs. Besides, the bank plans to set up 12 – 15 Gen Next branches to a number of youth.

He also said that Vijaya Bank will recruit a marketing team for the first time and that it will launch Savings Utsav for 6 months on Oct 1, 2011. The bank also plans to set up 8 urban micro finance branches to deal with the problem of poverty in India, he added.
