Mangaluru, Oct 8, 2017: "The Union Government has already simplified the Goods and Services Tax as per the directive of the Finance Ministry. In order to end confusion around GST, opinion regarding the same is elicited from prominent people and will be submitted to the PMO on October 9, said Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking at a seminar: "GST - Pros and Cons" at the Canara College Auditorium here on October 7 Saturday.
Admitting that GST has hit hard the realty sector, the MP stressed the need to ensure that the sector recovered from the same.
Some participants complained that the GST portal was not functioning satisfactorily. Representatives of Ice-cream Manufacturers’ Association sought concession in GST. Social activist Hanumantha Kamath demanded inclusion of liquor, petrol and diesel in uniform tax policy
KCCI Chairperson Vathika Pai, Chartered Accountant Jagannath Kamath and others were present.
