Velankanni pilgrims from Kundapur injured in road accident, near Sullia

Sullia, May 20,2017: The accident took place at Kanakamajalu here when their tempo traveller went out of control and rammed into a roadside retaining wall. Just days ago 8 persons from Kasargod lost their life in Tamil Nadu in a similar road accident while returning from a pilgrimage to Velankanni.

The family,  from Kundapur, met with an accident while returning from Velankanni pilgrimage too. However, the family of 9 members, escaped with injuries it is reported.  Sullia police are investigating further.

They have been named : Archie Carvalho (51), Anita Dias (28), Francis Assisi (2), Antony D’Almeida (52), Antony Sandesh, Sathish, Alice Rita, and Jacob D’Souza. They are all recuperating in a  hospital in Mangaluru and are said to be recouping well.

Francis and Anitha got married just about two weeks ago, sources said. Sandesh and his wife Treza live in Saudi and had come down to their hometown just a few days ago to attend the wedding. Francis (2) is their child.  The similarities with the earlier accident are eerie.
