Various organisations to stage protest against Toll Gate near NITK

Suratkal: September 29, 2015: Various organisation will stage a stir opposing the opening of a tollgate on National Highway (NH) near National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK).

 

The protest will be held near the proposed tollgate at Surathkal on Wednesday.

Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will take part in the protest, said the organization’s district VP B K Imthiyaz. "The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to open the tollgate despite people’s objections," Imthiyaz said. "The authorities are planning to open the tollgate forcefully. They must provide service roads, restrooms, toilets and an eight-lane road near the tollgate before making it functional. However, no such facilities have been provided at Surathkal yet," Imthiyaz alleged. The toll rate fixed for vehicles is steep, he said.
