Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2017 : After Jacintha case of Udupi ended on a happy note, another similar case has come to light wherein a 43 year old woman from Vamanjoor who had been to the Gulf to work as a housemaid has ended up being under house arrest by her employer. As of now, all efforts are on to rescue her through the Indian Social Forum in Saudi which was contacted by the Dakshina Kannada unit of the SDPI.
The woman named Vijaya (43), wife of Balappa Balakrishna (55) of Kelarai Kodi in Vamanjoor had left for Dammam in Saudi Arabia two years ago with the hope of earning well and supporting the education of her son and medical expenses of her sick husband.
However, she was placed under house arrest there and was not permitted to contact her family. Vijaya’s son Jagajivan is a first PUC student. He along with his father who is literally bed-ridden are now eagerely awaiting the return of Vijaya. It is said Vijaya was not allowed to speak to her family or return hometown.
On November 20, a team of SDPI leaders even visited the residence of Vijaya and assured all out help to ensure the safe return of Vijaya.
