Mangaluru, Sep 12,2016 : Police who are investigating the case pertaining to use of illegal SIM cards by undertrials have on September 13, Tuesday raided a SIM card distributor firm at Balmatta and another firm at Urwa which outsources the work of processing documents for the purpose of issuing SIM cards.
Crown at Balmatta and Cameo at Urwa are the two firms which were raided. Crown firm is a distributor for Tata Docomo SIM cards. The raiding police team have seized some documents.
It has been gathered that Shivaprasad, one of the accused in the Vinayak Baliga murder case was using a SIM which belonged to one Kareem who had died in May 2015. Ironically, documents revealed that the SIM was issued in October 2015, almost five months after the death of Karim.
In another case, Charan murder accused named Rizwan had in his possession a SIM card which was registered in the name of a 28 year old youth named Cleven Philip who was unaware that a SIM in his name was used by another person. It has been gathered that one Safwan had used his documents to get the SIM.
Here it is worth mentioning that police had seized as many as 29 SIM cards from undertrials during their raid to the District Prison last week.
