Uppinangady, Sep 15 2015: Thousands of people are participating in the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway Blockade protest organised by the Netravathi Nadi Tiruvu Yojane Virodhi Horata Samithi at Uppinangady on September 15, Tuesday with the active support of various organisations.
Traffic on the route have come to a complete standstill owing to the protest which has been organised to pressurise the statement to drop the Yettinahole Project.
Even Belthangady MLA Vasanth Bangera and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar are participating in the protest. The seers of Odiyoor, Vajradehi and Sridhama Maanila too have lent moral support to the protestors by sitting on the Highway in protest.
The Police Department has stepped up security arrangements to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the protest. The protestors are likely to hold a Jail Bharo agitation too.
