Uppinangady : 18 booked in Nelyady group clash case

Nelyady, Oct 29, 2015: Uppinangady Police have registered cases against 18 persons  in connection with a group clash, assault on police and rioting  in the town on October 27, Tuesday night.



The clash had erupted over the issue of closing  a saloon in Nelyady. When  Head Constable Balakrishna and Constables Nanjundaiah and Krishna had been to the spot they were assaulted. It was alleged that one Mohammad Haneef had even  assaulted Uppinangady SI Timmappa Naika and even threatened him. Police had to resort to a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd.

 Police have registered cases against the accused namely Mahesh, Salman, Abdul Rahiman, Siddique, Yashwanth, Kushalappa, Mohammad Haneef, Mohammad Shakeer, Udaya, Rama, Hameed Saleem, Mansoor, Shakir, Bhasker Shetty, Gunashekhara, Raviprasad Shetty and Chitresh.

 Commenting on the development, SP Dr Sharanappa has said that   the police will not give scope for disruption of peace in the society and assured stern action against the guilty.

Security arrangements have been tightened in Nelyady following the incident.
