Renukacharya was accompanied by some of the journalist from Mangalore to witness the raid. But his raid came as failure, as the manufacturers of the hooch had already eloped from the place before conducting raid. Even a single pot of hooch was not found at the time of raid.

His raid was indeed a journey of pleasure for a dozen journalists who accompanied the minister. They crossed the Nethravathi River through a boat and walked for a long distance to conduct raid.

K Bheemappa, joint commissioner, excise department, Sub Inspector Sathish Kumar, and a number of personnel took part in failed raid.

During my stint as excise minister, I will tray hard to eradicate panic of hooch said the minister in a press meet,  before going for a raid. “I have already taken certain measures to create awareness among poor people about the dire consequences of illicit liquor” he said.

A bad opinion has been bagged by the excise department due to corruption. But we are working hard to tackle the menace of corruption”, he assured.
