Mangalore, Aug 6: Book release programmes “Mangala Patyapusthaka Malike” and “Pracharopanyasa Malike” were held at the Ravindrakala Bhavan of University College on Aug 6, Friday.

Litterateur Amrutha Someshwar released 11 text books on the occasion and lauded the dedication of the lecturers who wrote these text books. He further said that the jackets of the books are appealing, the titles are apt, and that the information is presented in an effective manner. The books released were “Chengadiru,” “Chendaliru,” “Dudinudi,” “Thembarenada,” “Paniyara,” “Padimancha,” “Padhume,” “Patthaya,” “Kadiru,” and “Kedhage.”


Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University Prof. T. C. Shivashankar Moorthy delivered the presidential address and said that writers write books and give copies to the students whenever they have knowledge to impart. He assured the management of University College that the Mangalore University will release the required funds to develop Ravindrakala Bhavan and to provide facilities. 


The vice chancellor also regretted the lack of writers to write science text books in Kannada and invited authors to write in Kannada. He said that Mangalore University will provide the required financial assistance for the research work. 


Registrar of Mangalore University Prof. Chinnappa Gowda said that text books are not only meant for students, but also for the lecturers. 


Director of Prasaranga Shripathy Kalluraya welcomed the guests. Prof. Abhay Kumar, the chief editor of Vikas, and Prof. Krishna Moorthy, the president of Vikas, were also present.
