Mangaluru, Aug 17, 2016: The Suvarna Chathurmasa Vratha Committee of Sri Vidyadiraj Tirtha Sripad Vader Swamiji, head of Sri Samsthan Gokarna Parthagali Jeevotham Math will felicitate leading names of Gowd Saraswath Brahmin and Saraswath Brahmin community here on August 18. Those to be honoured include Suresh Prabhu, R V Deshpande, P Dayanand Pai, Sripad Yesso Naik, D Veerendra Heggade, Srinivas Dempo and Shivananda Salgaokar.

 

K Narasimha Prabhu, secretary of the committee said dignitaries will honoured at the Abhivandana Diwas, which is also the birthday of the Swamiji. While union minister Suresh Prabhu will be recognized with the GSB Maharatna Award, D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala will be conferred the Samaj Maharatna award. Union defence minister Manohar Parikar too will be felicitated if we receive his confirmation," he said.

A special postal stamp and cover will be released to commemorate the 50th Chaturmas of the swamiji on this occasion, he said, adding the committee under the guidance of the swamiji has chosen the above personalities from the two communities who have excelled in the field of social service, politics, industry, business and trade. Usha Chandrasekhar, chief post master general, Karnataka and Sanjay Gupta, CMD, KRCL will be the chief guests on this occasion.

The committee has organized a religious event from August 19 to 24 featuring religious discourse by Ananthakrishna Achar Pajaka. Career guidance programme has been organized for PUC students on August 20 and a seminar on start-up India for final year management, engineering and degree students on August 27. Swachh Bharath campaign in association with Ramakrishna Math will be carried out in and around the Car Street locality every Sunday till September end.
