Udupi, jan 18, 2016 : Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharathi is in Udupi for the Paryaya festivities of her Guru Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt. Uma Bharathi had attained Sanyasa Deeksha from the Pejawar Seer himself way back in 1992.
Uma Bharathi who spoke to reporters after offering prayers at the Krishna Mutt, said Pejawar seer has been able to bring about several social reforms. She also said she will not respond to any political issue.
In fact Pejawar seer had offered Sanyasa Deeksha to Uma Bharathi who belonged to the backward classes, despite facing opposition from many.
