Mangaluru, December 24, 2017: Shoot-out incidents in the district now seems to be increasing as on Saturday night unidentified miscreants fired at a businessman’s house in Mulki.
Sources said that the incident took place during 9.00 pm on Saturday when unidentified bike borne miscreants fired at a businessman identified as M Nagaraj’s house. Immediately after firing they fled from the spot.
According to police, Nagaraj is working as a contractor in Mulki Town Municipality and his house is located at Padupanambur in Mulki. One among the miscreants entered the compound of Nagaraj’s house and fired two rounds at the house before fleeing from the spot.

On hearing the sound of gunshots, neighbours gathered at the spot.
Police suspect involvement of underworld elements behind the incident. They said that Nagaraj was receiving calls from underworld elements demanding haftha (protection money).
However, it is yet to be found the main reason or motive behind the act. It is the second incident in city this month as on Dec 8 miscreants fired at the Sanjeeva shetty silks and sarees, Carstreet.
City Police Commissioner, T R Suresh, deputy commissioner of police, Uma Prashanth, assistant commissioner of police, Rajendra and Uday Nayak, Mulky police inspector Anantapadmanabha visited the spot and took up investigation.
