Mangaluru, Oct 7, 2017: Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh addressing concerns on phone-in, about the sale of cannabis in different parts of the city, said on Oct 6, Friday that special teams of policemen in plainclothes are moving around to catch such persons. His response came following calls on sale of cannabis in Kudroli area and near the Karnataka-Kerala border area in Talapady during the weekly phone-in programme held on Friday.
Police Commissioner Suresh said a team of policemen in civilian clothes will be sent to Kudroli to catch the perpetrators. This special team of policemen will be sent to different parts of the city, including the border area, he said.
Later, talking to reporters, City police chief Suresh said that after any murder or assault in the city the police have been hearing about assailants being under the influence of cannabis.
A caller from Nantoor said that many ambulances move through the Nantoor and Kadri Mallikatta junction during peak traffic and the police chief Suresh said that the police will shortly conduct surprise checks and prevent misuse of ambulances.
Complaints continued against some private city bus operators not issuing ticket in their buses and not plying buses on the designated routes. A caller from Pandeshwar complained of dumping of waste in the police lane, a resident of Kodikal and Kaprigudde sought action against vehicles using shrill horns.
A resident of Kodikal sought installation of caution boards to enable pedestrian cross the National Highway.
