Mangaluru, July 30, 2015: In a shocking incident, a gang of four masked assailants have stabbed a bakery owner at Mastikatte in Ullal late night on July 29, Wednesday. The incident sparked some tension in the locality in the backdrop of several stabbing incidents reported from Ullal in the recent past.
Sources said the group barged into the Sweet Bakery and attacked its owner Abdul Salam who was inside the shop. He was stabbed in his stomach, hands and neck leaving him in a critical state.
Two of the assailants have been identified as Fayaz and Harris, both dreaded criminals of the locality. Salam who was initially treated at a private hospital in Tokkottu was later rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.
It has been gathered that the victim Salam had earlier complained to the police against the Fayaz gang for allegedly harassing people of the vicinity including him. This is said to be reason behind the attack as Fayaz had once even reportedly threatened Salam.
It is said Fayaz was an accused in nearly 10 cases including the murder of the manager of Kanchan Textiles in Mangaluru.
