Udupi, June 03, 2015: A release by UDCA - Udupi District Cricket Association, on June 2, Tuesday after receiving(UDCA) women’s cricket tournament cup, said that the association aims of playing in the women’s State and national cricket team. The tournament was organised by the association in collaboration with Manipal University, Nethaji Sports Club, KRS Cricket Academy, Karnataka Regional Cricket Academy and Brahmavar Sports Club.
The UDCA had arranged a leather ball cricket trophy for women at Manipal University Turf Wicket Ground. The women’s cricket team of KRS Cricket Academy, Katapady, clinched the trophy by defeating the UDCA team by seven wickets.
Highlights : Batting first, UDCA scored 64 runs in 19 overs. Monisha got four wickets for 13 runs, Kavitha has secured three wickets for 10 runs and Chaithra has secured three wickets for seven runs. In reply, the KRS team reached the winning target by losing three wickets in the 18th over and lifted the trophy. Ms. Monisha was adjudged as best bowler and Chaithra as Best Batswoman.
In the finals of Boys Under-14 age category, the UDCA team defeated KRCA Kaup. Nethaji Sports Club defeated Chakravarthy Cricketers Kundapur in U-16 category. KRCA Kaup beat the UDCA team in the U-19 category.
Bharath Kumar Shetty, businessman, distributed the prizes. Chandrashekhar Hegde, Director, Physical Education; Balakrishna Parkala, Secretary, UDCA; Shukur Saheb, CEO, KRS Cricket Academy, Katapady, and others were present.
