Udupi, July 5, 2016: Kesardu Onji Dina, a rural sports fest organised at the marshy fields of Doddamane in Alevoor village saw enthusiastic participation of several people on July 3, Sunday. The event was organised under the joint aegis of the Department of Sports, Youth Services and Empowerment, Zilla Panchayat and Ganeshotsava Samithi Guddeyangady.
A variety of contests like tug of war, running race, pot breaking, volley ball were organised for children, men and women. There was even a special game for mothers called ’Moote Ota’ wherein mothers had to run with their kids on their backs.
To top it all, a traditional ’Ganji Oota’ was arranged for the participants. They were served rice, gujje sukka, thimare or Brahmi chutney, beetroot chutney etc.
As its a weekend all want a change fro the busy schedules ? Thanks to the organizers for the organizing a wonderful sports for families
Dakshina Kannada has unique culture and food habits. We do not get to see and play such games in other places. Housewives especially do not get to be free from the kitchen work all 365 days . This is good time to enjoy with the family
