Udupi, April 25, 2020: Udupi district which presently has no Covid-19 positive cases, is all likely to be declared a Green Zone. Earlier, if three Covid-19 patients who were completely cured were discharged from hospital, on Friday, a pregnant woman from Bhatkal who was also cured of Covid-19 was discharged. The first Covid-19 positive case of Udupi was reported on March 25 and exactly a month later, on April 25, the district is heading towards becoming Covid-19 free district.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesh had said on April 20 that the district could be declared a Green Zone either on April 26 or 27 if there are no fresh cases.
As of now a total of 3238 people in the district have registered for testing for Coronavirus. As many as 1,929 people have completed 28 day quarantine period while 2,512 have completed 14 day quarantine. Presently 50 are in Isolation ward while 273 have been discharged. So far the throat swab samples of 1,024 have been collected. The reports of 947 are negative while 74 reports are awaited.
