Udupi, Sept 2, 2018: Krishnastami celebrations are set to have a new motive from a few individuals,  who will don various ‘Veshas’ as part of the celebrations.

Ramanji will be performing at the celebrations like in his previous ventures. At present, he is using the occasion to campaign against the drug addiction. He will be dressing as ‘Drug Karkotaka’ through which he will spread messages on the ill effects of drug addiction.

He said he will be donating the collected amount for various causes.  “I have donated nearly Rs 3 lakh for various social causes in the past. This year I will be also contribute an amount for the treatment of Soundharya from Kalthur who is specially-challenged.”

He will be donating the amount to the government school where he had studied, which currently has no teachers. Some amount will also be donated to other causes.

Ravi Katpady who is known for his charity works with the funds collected after wearing several fancy Veshas in Krishnastami celebrations said that he will be dressing as an “amazing monster.”

“The make up required for the Vesha are sourced from Hong Kong. I travel around Udupi, Malpe, Katpady and Padukere wearing the Vesha for three days,” he added.

He has a team of 85 members. “I have been donning various Veshas in the last five years. The amount raised is being given to the treatment of children suffering from various ailments. I have already donated Rs 16 lakh in the past,” he adds.

The amount raised will be given for the treatment of four children, at a programme scheduled to be held on September 9 at Malpe Hanuman Bhajana Mandira.

Women’s team: A woman’s Hulivesha team—Avigna Vyagras— from Kadiyali Ganeshotsava Samithi is ready to dance at Car Street. The team has been practising under the guidance of Kunjibettu Shivappa Poojary for the last 15 days. The team will donate the amount raised from donors to Aasare Charitable Trust.
