BJP claims will sweep ULB polls in Udupi district:  BJP District President Mattar Ratnakar Hegde has expressed confidence that BJP will sweep the election in all the urban local bodies with a majority.  The election to the urban local bodies will be held on August 29.

Speaking to media persons, he said that the BJP has contributed immensely to the development in the district during its tenure.

The state government, led by JD(S) and Congress coalition, will see a massive defeat as the people are fed up with the insincere administration, he charged.

Whatever the unethical way, both the parties in the coalition government approach to defeating the BJP, the party will surely emerge victorious facing all the adversaries, he added.

He said that the present rule of Congress in Udupi CMC is the most corrupt governance in the history of the urban local body. “The Congress had even gone to the extent of insulting a common man by inviting him to the general body meeting. The party has rarely expressed its interest in developing the city although there were sufficient opportunities,” he added.

Hegde said that committees have been formed to collect the opinions of the members in all wards. Based on the opinions collected, the tickets will be given. The election in-charge people are appointed. Leaders Kuiladi Suresh Nayak in Karkala, Kutyaru Naveen Shetty in Kundapur and Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde in Udupi will be in charge of the polls, he added.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat said that the Congress-JD(S) coalition government is expecting the victory by hatching conspiracy in reservations. Sadly, the government is under an illusion. Most of the influential BJP leaders are deprived of the tickets in the name of reservation, he charged.

He alleged that the Congress has the credit for increasing the tax and thereby, increasing the burden on the public. The streetlight issue continues to haunt the CMC limits, he said.

Bhat said the party will field influential leaders and ensure the massive victory in the election.
