Udupi: Temples told to install CCTV cameras

Udupi, Sep 24, 2015: Following the increase in the number of thefts in Udupi district, the police have directed all temples belonging to ‘A’ and ‘B’ grades to install CCTV cameras.

CCTV cameraSpeaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, said the police had held two rounds of meetings with the heads of these temples.

On wearing of helmets being made mandatory for college students from October 1, he said many youths were losing their life.

The students will have to give details of documents of their vehicles and driving licences to the college, which would then have a database of students with two-wheelers.

The security guards of the college would be told not to allow any student with a two-wheeler into the campus without helmet. “We are calling the parents of such students who aren’t wearing helmets and sensitizing them on the need for adequate protection,” he said.

The police had held meetings at educational institutions coming under Manipal University on the issue. of wearing helmets and they had responded positively, he said.
