Udupi: Security Guard’s honesty wins acclaim

Udupi,Feb 1, 2014 :  The honesty and sincerity of the security guard of a private firm in Udupi who returned a gold necklace  which was lying on the ground outside the shop, to its rightful owner, has been commended.

  Peter Vincent Furtado of Kodavur village who worked as a security guard at the Harsha showroom in the town, had on January 29 noticed a gold necklace  weighing around 8 sovereigns and worth Rs 2 lakhs lying on the ground. He immediately handed it over to his employers.

In fact the necklace belonged to the daughter-in-law of MH Hammabba of Padubidri who had come to the showroom for shopping with his family on January 29. They had even put up an advertisement in a daily regarding the necklace. The Harsha authorities contacted the family and on January 31, Harsha’s Assistant General Manager Benegal Nagappa Amin handed over the  necklace to  Hammabba. Even the security guard Peter was awarded for his sincerity.
