Dr. Patil said the Indian embassy in Riyadh had sent a letter to this effect. Many people are being cheated by agents. If anyone had any complaint against any agent, they could approach the police and action would be taken, he said.

Dr. Patil said the police were cracking down on gambling in the district and had booked several cases.  One of the main accused involved in matka business, Leo Carnelio, was absconding. If anyone had information about his whereabouts, suitable reward would be given, he said.

Dr. Patil said the police had arrested Mohiuddin from Gulvady village in connection with illegal transportation of 25 head of cattle and injuring a police constable at Kandlur in the district on October 17.

In the last week, the police had booked three cases against gambling and arrested three persons, registered two cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
