Udupi : Miscreant sets autorickshaw afire

Udupi, Mar 25, 2017: An autorickshaw parked  in the auto stand near the Abharan Motors at Rajeev Nagar  in Nittur was gutted after it was set afire by a miscreant during the wee hours of March 25, Saturday. The autorickshaw belonged to Sukesh  who resided a little distance away from the spot where the incident  took place.

 

Sukesh used to park his autorickshaw in the auto stand itself. Meanwhile CCTV footages of the area revealed a youngster arriving  by a two-wheeler at around 1 am dousing the auto with petrol and setting it afire before fleeing. However the images are not clear.

One suspicion is that the man who set the auto afire was in an inebriated state. The loss of the autorickshaw  has devastated Sukesh who is the sole bread winner of his family and  even had availed a loan of Rs 50,000 recently to get the auto repaired.

The loss has been estimated at Rs 90,000. The auto stand has also been damaged in the fire.
