Udupi: Krishi Utsav 2012 attracts huge crowds

Udupi, May 20, 2012: Krishi Utsav 2012 organized by the District Krishi Utsav Committee and many other organizations at Nehru Maidan in Kapady on May 20, Sunday attracted huge crowds.

The highlights of the event were a cattle show, a rooster show, a flower show, food stalls, and seminars on various topics related to farming. More than 150 species of cattle were displayed at the venue.

 

 

 

 

 

Thousands of people took part in the farming equipment expo, live display of farming accessories, seminars, and cultural programs. Rural women dairy farmers and veterinary doctors attended the Krishi Utsav in large numbers.

The organizers had arranged food for the people who had arrived from distant places. Dinakar Shetty and Ramanand Shetty were in-charge of the food committee.

The organizers of the show were the Krishi Utsav Committee, several government departments, and self-help groups.

Progressive farmer Ponkra Poojary inaugurated the show, and the chief guests of the event were Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon, Dr. L. H. Manjunath, the CEO of the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, former minister V. Salian and others.
